“God walks with his people”: Theme for World Refugee Day 2024 which will be celebrated on Sunday, 29 September 2024

A Church on the move

Pope Francis will release a message that would address the itinerant dimension of the Church, with a particular focus on our migrant brothers and sisters, who represent a contemporary icon of the journeying Church.

It is a path to be undertaken in a synodal way, overcoming all threats and obstacles, in order to reach our true homeland together. During this journey, wherever people find themselves, it is essential to recognize the presence of God who walks with His people, assuring them of His guidance and protection at every step. Yet it is equally essential to recognize the presence of the Lord, Emmanuel, God-with-us, in every migrant who knocks at the door of our hearts and offers an opportunity for encounter.

110 years of the World Day

The World Day of Migrants and Refugees is observed every year on the last Sunday of September.

First celebrated in 1914, it is an occasion to encourage Catholics worldwide to remember and pray for those displaced by conflict, persecution, and economic difficulties.

To mark the event, the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development will carry out a communications campaign, aimed at promoting a deeper understanding of this year’s theme through videos, informational material, and theological reflections.

African Catholic Community in Lincoln

We will be celebrating on the 3rd Sunday of every month at 3pm, in St. Hugh's Parish.

For the African Catholic Community in Lincoln, the 21st November was a dream come true as we celebrated our inaugural Mass as a community, in St. Hugh's, Lincoln.

The turnout for the Mass reflected the extended participation, of not just the African community, but also our non-African brothers and sisters in different parishes in Lincoln.

In attendance too was Fr. Gabriel Offer, chaplain of the African community Diocese of Nottingham; Fr. Stanley Ofoegbu, Parish Priest of St. Therese of Lisieux, Aspley;  and Fr. Patrick Bassey, assistant Priest of St. Hugh's, Lincoln.  the presence and support from our bretheren from the diocesan body of African community was was inspiring and encouraging.

It is our hope that our coming together to worship will foster spiritual growth and familyhood within our African Catholic community, and between other non-African Catholic Christians.  Apart from this our main aim is also to engender among the African Catholic Christians, a greater involvement in the pastoral life and activities of our different parishes in Lincoln.

Every month there is a Transform Lincoln City Prayer Breakfast event!

It would be wonderful if you wanted to attend and join us in prayer for our City.
