Formation for Mission

INCREASE YOUR KNOWLEDGE - GROW YOUR DEVOTION - ELEVATE YOUR PRAYER

First, have habitual desire to imitate Christ in all your deeds, by bringing your life into conformity with His.

You must then study His life, in order to know how to imitate Him, and behave in events, as He would.

St. John of the Cross from his book The Ascent of Mount Carmel

“Work is part and parcel of man’s life on earth. It involves effort, weariness, exhaustion: signs of the suffering, and struggle, which accompany human existence, and which point to the reality of sin, and the need for redemption. But in itself, work is not a penalty, or a curse, or a punishment (…) work is a gift from God…it makes no sense to classify men differently, according to their occupation, as if some jobs were nobler than others. Work, all work, bears witness to the dignity of man, to his dominion over creation. It is an opportunity, to develop one’s personality. It is a bond of union with others, the way to support one’s family, a means of aiding in the improvement of the society, in which we live, and in the progress of all humanity” - St. Josemaria Escriva

“Receive this sign of our faith, chair of the truth and of the love of Christ, and proclaim it with your life, your conduct and with the word”

After the publication of the Directory for Catechesis, the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, established through the Motu Proprio Antiquum Ministerium, the Rite for the Institution of the Ministry of Catechist.

In virtue of Baptism, we all are called to be co-responsible in the local Church, for the proclamation and transmission of the faith, carrying out such a function in collaboration with the Ordained Ministers and under their guidance.

Expected of the Catechists that receive this Ministry is that they be: “men and women of profound faith and human maturity, that take part actively in the life of the Christian community, that can be welcoming, generous and live in fraternal communion, that receive due biblical, theological, pastoral and pedagogical formation to be attentive communicators of the truth of the faith, and that already have a previous experience of catechesis.  They must be faithful collaborators of the priests and deacons, willing to exercise the ministry where necessary and animated by true apostolic enthusiasm.”
